This kit is inspired by the beautifully illustrated book Kitten’s First Full Moon by Kevin Henkes, a charming story that follows a curious kitten who mistakes the full moon for a bowl of milk. Through this gentle nighttime adventure, children will explore light and shadow, the phases of the moon, and the wonders of nighttime nature. Packed with over 12 hands‑on activities, this kit encourages children to investigate science, math, literacy, art, and engineering through fun, play‑based learning.

Some of the exciting activities children will explore with this kit include:
  • Creating their own glowing full moon artwork
  • Learning about the phases of the moon and creating a moon‑phase model
  • Sculpting their own clay kitten inspired by the story
  • Completing an engineering challenge to help Kitten “reach the moon”
  • Creating chalk‑on‑black‑paper night‑sky art
  • Experimenting with light and shadow using flashlights and moon shapes
  • Building a “moon‑catcher” to discover how light reflects
  • Playing fun literacy and math games based on Kitten’s nighttime journey
  • PLUS SO MUCH MORE

Everything children need to read, play, create, and learn is included! This kit is packed with endless fun!
